Pacing: I am online a lot and consider myself a fast tagger when possible, but work a job that can have me doing 60-80 hr weeks, so things can get unpredictable. Feel free to poke me if you’re not sure where I am, I don’t find it naggy.

Backtagging: Very fun to go on as long as both parties are interested but would prefer big story moments are wrapped in 2-3 weeks so we can move forward!

ELEVATOR PITCH Sciel leaves behind the classroom and devotes the last year of her life to an important mission: finding and killing a god, even if it means facing death with a smile on her face.

APPEARANCE: Sciel is 5’3”, tanned, and a trained athlete. She has a dusting of freckles, large hazel eyes, and a small beauty mark on the right side of her mouth. Her brown hair is usually pulled into a messy bun with a white ribbon, and her bangs are choppy and hang in her face. Her fingers are callused and worn.

She has a large tattoo across her upper chest, extending down to her breasts and all the up and around the back of her neck. The ink is black, and it mimics the look of art deco linework.

She has a scar across her nose, which is old and very well healed over, and another, larger scar up her abdomen, going from her left rib to the right side of her pelvis. This one is a keloid scar, so it's raised.

Her voice is playful and often flippant, with a French accent. Sample.

Sciel generally wears clothes that are fit for practical movement. She favours crop tops and dark colours. She usually wears some sort of gold jewelry, including dozens of colourful bracelets and rings. She generally has a sheathed knife strapped to an ankle, or at her hip. The vibe is a smidge edgy. She's a cool teacher, you know.

DEMEANOR

She's good with her hands, and comfortable getting dirty. She's the peacemaker in most situations and good at keeping a conversation rolling, and can be a bit of a tease. It is extremely difficult to get a rise out of her, and it can sometimes give off the impression that she just can't give a moment the gravity it deserves, or is insensitive to others' sincere emotions. She's not difficult to read otherwise; she wears her feelings right on her face.

Sciel is also a bit of a show-off; she's confident and at home in the centre of a crowd, and is happy to show off card tricks or tell a story. Stories are important to Sciel –– they're functionally currency, give one to get one.

She is easily physically affectionate, standing close, offering a hand to hold or a shoulder to lean on. She's fond of children and whimsy, and can be extremely candid about just about anything.

INTERACTIONS

Injury: Sure.
Death: She’d love it lol.
Sexual Contact: Sciel is an openly sexual and flirty person who is very much down to fuck. If there’s any chemistry whatsoever, she’s likely to roll with it just to see where it goes. She has no expectations for longevity, as it’s all just having fun to her. As such, she is open to any adult, of any gender. I’m OK with characters feeling used if that’s something they would feel, and I am generally into “messy” relationships.
Platonic Contact: Sciel welcomes this. She is a touchy feely person herself.
Romantic Contact: Sciel is still in love with her dead husband, who she considers the love of her life and wants to be reunited with in death, and is thus disinterested in anything serious. That said, I am interested in a storyline where she moves on from him.
Violent Contact: Sure. She considers combat a necessity rather than a personal passion, and thus takes attacks on her and hers very seriously.
Shipping: My pairings for her are with Verso, Lune and Gustave, but as above, I’m open.
Sensitive subjects: Babies, spousal death, miscarriages, suicide. Sciel will discuss all these things frankly, please don’t feel the need to shy away from them, but she does have a pretty grim, pragmatic approach.

EN FRANÇAIS... I went to school nearly exclusively in French from kindergarten until I was about fourteen, but I don't live in a French-speaking region anymore and thus have fallen completely out of practice. I can still comprehend it and read it very well, but my writing is very slow and my speaking is pretty abysmal. Obviously DWRP is nearly exclusively done in English, but I'd love opportunities to practice more, so if you or your character speak French, it would be super fun to try that :)

Farming. Sciel used to be a farmer. This includes both the manual labour –– she’s handy with a scythe –– and the more cerebral “farmer’s almanac” element. She knows how to grow food, particularly at scale.

Teaching. Sciel left farming to become a teacher; working with children is very special to her.

General survival. Sciel has trained for the Expedition, a year-long journey into lands unknown to investigate (and ideally destroy) a hostile pseudo-god. She is hardy, quick on her feet, resourceful and resilient.

Weapons training. Sciel is handy with a scythe specifically for the purpose of, um, sticking the pointy end of it into various fiends’ skulls. She’s good with a dagger too.

Magic manipulation. Sciel can channel Chroma (magic) to perceive and predict others’ magical ability, generally by attaching her magic power to them in alternating elements. (What a sentence.) It takes time, and is kind of like a magic sleight of hand or cantrip; it takes very little effort for her to manipulate others’ magical or spiritual powers in her favour because she is the sort of person who is very perceptive about others and could turn it on them if she so chose.

This is conceptualized in the game through status effects and stat boosts. It’s just as confusing in canon! I’m not interested in playing out literal gameplay mechanics and prefer this to just be understood (and potentially played, if ever relevant) as a supernatural ability to find advantages over others.

personality:

Born into a world where the maximum age lowers by one every year, Sciel knew from childhood she’d never see 33. It’s given her a tremendous sense of ease, knowing she can just live her life to the fullest within those parameters. It’s also given her a tremendous amount of pain, having realized that a whole lot more can happen to you than death. At 32, she’s ready to wring out the last opportunities she has for pleasure and go to her end without regrets.

As a result, it’s rare to see Sciel without a gentle smile. She's the peacemaker in most situations and good at keeping a conversation rolling, and can be a bit of a tease. It is extremely difficult to get a rise out of her. She is playful and speaks frankly about herself, and when prompted to share, about others too. While you won't hear a brag or boast out of her, she is at home in the centre of a crowd, and loves a good scrap. She does card tricks and likes stories. But because Sciel knows exactly who she is, without facade or reservations, she often sees little point in mincing words. Sometimes this gives the impression that she can't (or won’t) give a moment the gravity it deserves; sometimes this means mentioning painful topics casually in conversation. She understands it can make people uncomfortable, but she believes everyone can determine their own course, and if they’re really all that bothered, they’re welcome to say so or otherwise make choices for themselves, just as she has for herself. Life is, after all, too short to live with much restraint. Her husband died young, and she came so close to suicide that she lost everything. Might as well have another glass of wine, make some love, and commit yourself to whatever good you can do in the world.
