When they’d run into the Gestral merchant a few days ago, they’d been regrettably short on chroma.
Under normal circumstances, they’d all shrug their shoulders and move on. Nothing’s that important. But Lune’s fallen ill with a cold, so there won’t be much moving on that front, either, no matter how much she protests. They have a day to kill, maybe two if Lune keeps up her usual sleeping habits, and there’s no sense in wasting time, is there? Time is lifespan, after all. Lune can rest, Monoco and Maelle can look after camp, and Sciel and Verso can go fetch a pretty new blade with all the chroma they’d collected going up the mountain, and maybe they’ll all be in better spirits by the end of it.
So back down the mountain they go, making a sport out of picking off smaller Nevrons and coming up with creative ways the bigger ones might just kill a party of two. They find wild asparagus and pick as many stalks as they can carry, and tell stories about past Expeditions’ exploits. It’ll be four hours down and six coming back up, and Sciel is sure her thighs are going to be a whole centimetre thicker by the end of that particular incline, but it doesn’t matter. It’s all fun and games.
“So,” Sciel says, rolling her eyes towards him playfully, veering a little closer to him as she walks. “Imagine you can live anywhere you want to, without any concern for how you’re going to survive there, or get there, or feed yourself! Where on the Continent would you stay?”
