He's not wearing his armor for a change, opting for a simple black tunic and pants with a belt and boots. Guess they can both breathe easier with the fog gone. The city is likely safe for a couple of weeks, at least. ]
[It’s good to see him more dressed down, and she makes her way right over. Before taking her side of the booth, she leans in to kiss his cheek, a routine little thing before slinging her purse down and sitting across from him. She smiles.]
Thank you, you look handsome yourself. [She picks up the menu, glances at it briefly, and then slides it to him. You pick.] Did you catch up with your family?
[ Vax doesn't know if a kiss on the cheek is customary where she's from or just a Sciel thing, but it makes him smile. ]
I thought you might make fun of me if I showed up to lunch battle ready.
[ She might make fun of him anyway, but that's fine. Without the padded armor and cape, he's slimmer looking. More like his father's people. Elves are slim by design, but usually taller than Vax.
He looks down and turns the menu over to explore their options. ]
I'll see them later tonight. Percival had a rough time in the fog. His past is.. a bit dark. But whose isn't around here?
[Sciel smiles wryly, reaching across the table to give his wrist a brief squeeze.]

It seems like most people have skeletons in their closets. But I think people like us are drawn to the kind of adventure and dangerous work we do, so... maybe it's fitting.

I was a farmer before I was a teacher, so I learned how to handle a scythe young. [The polearm she’d brought with her into the fog had been lighter than usual, with less reach, but it was what she’d had, so she’d made do.] Your wings were very impressive.

I’m glad, too. Though I must admit, it was probably the most enjoyable part of the whole thing. It’s been too many months since I got to stretch my legs properly.

She didn't trust me at first, but I figured out who she was based on your description. Once I mentioned you, she brightened right up.

[Lune has her head on her shoulders, and a good, critical eye, where Sciel is too trusting, too likely to wind herself into a potentially vulnerable spot. Sciel adds, fondly:]
She and I have only started getting close, but I really think the world of her. It’s really incredible how resilient she is. She kept wanting to go back out in the fog, even when it felt so… hopeless.
[ Vax smiles a little as Sciel compliments her friend. It's nice that she has people here she feels close to and can rely upon.
Picking up his spoon, Vax tastes the soup, which gets a small nod of approval. They have similar foods back home, so he's not bothered by the results. ]
Without the aid of magic, many were at a disadvantage.

But it didn't seem to affect objects imbued with power, just magic that comes from people. I got lucky this time. Well, in that regard.
